Box Living was conceived in a sun-faded Coconut Grove bungalow by two architecture graduates searching
for furniture with a soul. Having just finished school, our budget was lean, and the mass-produced modern
furniture we could afford felt entirely soulless lacking any sense of place or narrative. Driven by
frustration, we began exploring small antique shops, estate sales, and garage sales. What we discovered there
changed everything: pieces with a history, a patina, and a story. They were made by real people using real
materials, opening our eyes to the one thing missing from today's furniture: true craft.
P R I N C I P L E
Bringing our classical training as architects to the design studio, we view furniture as micro-architecture. We
believe objects must maintain a soulful relationship with humanity. A piece of furniture should possess a
distinct sense of place, connect emotionally with people, and honor the techniques of where it is born.

Our production is anchored in the rich material heritage and artisanal mastery of Indonesia. However, true luxury lies in nuance. Like a gourmet recipe, we layer our foundational, homegrown materials with rare, niche elements sourced globally. This intentional juxtaposition this exotic spice creates a beautiful tension, transforming raw material into a timeless design statement.
